Adara Translate, including the Mobile App for Android and iOS, Google Workspace add-on ("Multi Translate Pro"), and Chrome Extension (collectively, the "Services"), is committed to protecting the privacy of its users. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and obtain consent for information through our Services.
Collection of Information
The Services collect and use the following information:
For Adara Translate Mobile App (Android & iOS):
- Google Account Information: Email address, profile name, and profile picture obtained through Google Sign-In, used solely for authentication and user account management.
- Translation Data: Text submitted for translation (typed, voice input, OCR-scanned, pasted from clipboard, or imported from files), which is processed solely for providing translation services.
- Usage Data: Number of words translated, translation language pairs, glossary usage, and feature usage (OCR, voice input, file import), used solely for service improvement and credit management.
- Payment Information: Stripe payment data for purchasing translation credits and managing subscriptions, processed securely by Stripe and not stored on our servers.
- Device Information: Device model, operating system version, app version, and crash logs (via Firebase Crashlytics), used solely for debugging and improving app stability.
- Camera and Microphone Access: Used only when you explicitly activate OCR (text scanning) or voice input features. No images, audio, or video are stored on our servers.
- File Access: PDF, DOCX, and TXT files you choose to import are processed locally on your device and sent to DeepL API for translation. Files are not stored on our servers.
- Local Storage: Language preferences, draft translations, and glossaries are stored locally on your device for offline access and improved user experience.
For Multi Translate Pro (Google Workspace Add-on):
- Google user data obtained via Restricted and Sensitive Scopes, which is used solely for the purpose of providing translation services within the Add-on.
- Stripe payment information, which is used solely for the purpose of processing payments for the purchase of translation credits.
- User email and the number of words translated using the add-on, which is used solely for the purpose of providing support and improving the Service's performance and user experience.
For Chrome Extension:
- Text selected by the user for translation, which is processed solely for the purpose of providing translation services.
- Browser extension usage data (optional), which may include frequency of use and language preferences, used solely for improving the user experience.
- No browsing history, personal information, or data from websites is collected or stored.
User Consent for Data Sharing
The Services integrate with third-party tools and AI models, such as DeepL and Firebase Firestore, to enhance functionality. Before sharing any user data with these tools, the Services obtain explicit user consent through a clear, opt-in mechanism within the user interface. Users have the option to decline data sharing and can withdraw their consent at any time via the app settings.
Mobile App Specific Consent:
- On first launch, users are presented with a clear privacy consent screen explaining data collection and third-party integrations.
- Users must explicitly accept Google Sign-In terms and Firebase/DeepL data sharing before using translation features.
- Camera, microphone, and file access permissions are requested only when the respective features are used, with clear explanations of why the permission is needed.
Use of Information
The Services use the collected information for the following purposes:
- Providing translation services to users.
- Processing payments for the purchase of translation credits.
- Analyzing and improving the Services' performance and user experience.
- Providing customer support to users.
- Detecting and preventing fraudulent activity or abuse.
- Sending service-related notifications (e.g., low credit balance, subscription renewal reminders).
Mobile App Specific:
- Text submitted for translation (via keyboard, voice, OCR, clipboard, or file import) is processed in real-time and sent to DeepL's API via secure HTTPS connection.
- User email and translation usage statistics are stored in Firebase Firestore for credit management and billing purposes.
- Crash reports and analytics are collected via Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics to improve app stability and user experience.
- No translation content is stored on our servers after processing is complete.
Chrome Extension Specific:
- Text submitted for translation is processed in real-time and is not stored on our servers.
- Translation requests are sent securely to DeepL's API and are subject to DeepL's privacy policy.
Sharing of Information with AI Models and Third-Party Tools
The Services share specific user data with the following third-party tools:
DeepL API:
- User text data for the purpose of providing translation services. This applies to all Services (Mobile App, Google Workspace Add-on, and Chrome Extension).
- Mobile App: Text from all input methods (typed, voice, OCR, clipboard, file import) is sent to DeepL's servers for translation.
- Translation requests are encrypted using HTTPS and subject to DeepL's privacy policy: https://www.deepl.com/privacy
Firebase (Google):
- Firebase Authentication: Google account email and profile information for user authentication (Mobile App only).
- Firebase Firestore: User email, credit balance, word count, subscription plan, and glossaries for account management and service functionality (Mobile App and Google Workspace Add-on).
- Firebase Crashlytics: Crash logs, device information, and app usage data for debugging and improving app stability (Mobile App only).
- Firebase Analytics: Anonymized usage statistics (feature usage, language pairs, session duration) for improving user experience (Mobile App only).

Stripe:
- Payment information (credit card details, billing address) for processing subscription payments and managing billing.
- Stripe processes all payment data securely; we do not store credit card information on our servers.
- Payment data is subject to Stripe's privacy policy: https://stripe.com/privacy
Google Translation (Optional Feature):
- User-submitted text that requires translation. This data is shared exclusively for the purpose of translating text as requested by the user.
- Users are informed and their explicit consent is obtained before using this feature (Multi Translate Pro only).
Google Cloud Speech-to-Text (Mobile App Voice Input):
- Audio recordings of your voice when using voice input are sent to Google Cloud Speech-to-Text API for transcription.
- Audio is processed in real-time and not stored on our servers.

Google ML Kit (Mobile App OCR):
- Images captured via camera or selected from gallery are processed on-device using Google ML Kit for text recognition.
- Images are not uploaded to our servers or Google's servers; all OCR processing happens locally on your device.
Mobile App Specific:
- Text highlighted or submitted for translation is sent to DeepL's API via secure HTTPS connection.
- We do not collect, store, or have access to your device's photo library, microphone recordings, or file system beyond the specific files you choose to import.
- Translation requests are processed in real-time and are not logged or stored by Adara Translate.
Chrome Extension Specific:
- Text highlighted or submitted for translation is sent to DeepL's API via secure HTTPS connection.
- We do not collect, store, or have access to your browsing history, cookies, or any data from websites you visit.
- Translation requests are processed in real-time and are not logged or stored by Adara Translate.
This data sharing is conducted only after obtaining explicit user consent and is essential for the functionality of the Services.
Limited Use Policy Compliance
The Services comply with the Limited Use Policy of the Google API User Data Policy with respect to user data obtained via Restricted and Sensitive Scopes (applicable to Multi Translate Pro and Mobile App Google Sign-In).
Mobile App Permissions
The Mobile App requests the following permissions, which are used only for their stated purposes:
Android Permissions:
- INTERNET: Required to communicate with DeepL API, Firebase, and Stripe for translation, authentication, and payment services.
- CAMERA: Used only when you activate the OCR (camera scan) feature to capture images for text extraction. Images are processed locally and not stored.
- READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / READ_MEDIA_IMAGES: Used only when you select images from gallery for OCR or import files (PDF/DOCX/TXT) for translation.
- RECORD_AUDIO: Used only when you activate voice input to transcribe speech to text. Audio is processed in real-time and not stored.
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Used to detect internet connectivity and provide offline mode gracefully.
iOS Permissions:
- Camera (NSCameraUsageDescription): "We need camera access to scan text from images for translation."
- Photo Library (NSPhotoLibraryUsageDescription): "We need photo library access to select images for translation."
- Microphone (NSMicrophoneUsageDescription): "We need microphone access to convert your speech to text for translation."
- Speech Recognition (NSSpeechRecognitionUsageDescription): "We need speech recognition access to transcribe your voice for translation."
We do not request or use permissions beyond what is necessary for the app's core functionality. All permissions are requested at the time of use with clear explanations.
Chrome Extension Permissions
The Chrome Extension requests minimal permissions necessary for its functionality:
- activeTab: To access and translate text on the current webpage when you use the right-click context menu.
- contextMenus: To provide the right-click translation feature.
- storage: To save your language preferences locally on your device.
We do not request or use permissions that would allow us to access your browsing history, personal data, or information from websites beyond the text you explicitly select for translation.
Data Retention
- Mobile App: User account data (email, credits, word count) is retained as long as your account is active. You can request account deletion at any time by contacting info@adaratranslate.com.
- Translation Content: No translation input or output is stored on our servers after processing is complete.
- Crash Logs: Retained for up to 90 days for debugging purposes, then automatically deleted.
- Payment Records: Retained in accordance with Stripe's data retention policies and legal requirements (typically 7 years for tax purposes).
- Glossaries: Stored in Firebase Firestore as long as your account is active. You can delete glossaries at any time through the app.
Opt-Out and Revocation of Consent
Users can opt out of data sharing and revoke their consent at any time through the app/extension settings. This action will not affect the user's access to the primary functionalities of the Services.
Mobile App Specific:
- Analytics Opt-Out: You can disable Firebase Analytics in the app settings to stop sending usage statistics.
- Account Deletion: Contact info@adaratranslate.com to request full account deletion, which will permanently remove all your data from our servers within 30 days.
- Revoke Permissions: You can revoke camera, microphone, or storage permissions at any time through your device's system settings. This will disable the respective features (OCR, voice input, file import) but not affect other app functionality.
Data Security
The Services take reasonable measures to protect the collected information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. All data transmission is encrypted using industry-standard HTTPS/TLS protocols.
Mobile App Security Measures:
- Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between the app and our servers (Firebase, DeepL, Stripe) is encrypted using TLS 1.2 or higher.
- Encryption at Rest: User data stored in Firebase Firestore is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption.
- Authentication: Firebase Authentication uses industry-standard OAuth 2.0 for Google Sign-In.
- Payment Security: All payment processing is handled by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. We never store credit card information.
- API Key Protection: Sensitive API keys (DeepL, Firebase, Stripe) are stored securely and never exposed in the app's client-side code.
- Regular Security Audits: We conduct regular security reviews and update dependencies to patch known vulnerabilities.
Children's Privacy
The Services are not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at info@adaratranslate.com, and we will delete such information from our systems.
International Data Transfers
The Services are operated from the United Kingdom. If you are accessing the Services from outside the UK/EU, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the UK or other countries where our service providers (Firebase, DeepL, Stripe) operate. By using the Services, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries outside your country of residence, which may have different data protection laws.
Data Transfer Safeguards:
- Firebase and Google Cloud services comply with GDPR and use Standard Contractual Clauses for data transfers.
- DeepL processes EU data within EU data centers and complies with GDPR.
- Stripe is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Your Rights (GDPR/UK GDPR)
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you have the following rights:
