Terms and Conditions
Welcome to Adara Translate, including our Mobile App for Android and iOS, Google Workspace add-on ("Multi Translate Pro"), and Chrome Extension (collectively, the "Services"). Our Services use DeepL and other advanced AI technologies for language translation. By accessing or using any of our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (the "Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Services.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, downloading, installing, or using any of our Services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Services.
2. Description of Services
2.1 Adara Translate Mobile App (Android & iOS)
Our mobile application provides professional translation services with the following features:
- Text translation using DeepL AI in 37 languages
- Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for camera and gallery images
- Voice-to-text translation using speech recognition
- File import translation (PDF, DOCX, TXT)
- Clipboard paste translation
- Custom glossary management for consistent terminology
- Credit-based subscription plans
- Google Sign-In authentication
2.2 Multi Translate Pro (Google Workspace Add-on)
Translates content within Google Sheets, Docs, and Slides using DeepL and Google Translate APIs.
2.3 Chrome Extension
Translates text on web pages through right-click context menu or extension popup.
You may use the Services for personal or commercial purposes, provided that you comply with these Terms.
3. Account Registration and Security
3.1 Account Creation
To use certain features of the Mobile App, you must create an account by signing in with your Google account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
- Be responsible for all activities under your account
3.2 Age Requirement
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent to use the Services.
3.3 Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity.
4. Translation Credits and Subscriptions
4.1 Credit System (Mobile App)
- Translation services are billed based on word count (1 word = 1 credit)
- New users receive 1,500 free credits upon registration
- Credits are deducted in real-time upon translation completion
- Credits are non-refundable and non-transferable
4.2 Subscription Plans
We offer the following subscription plans:
- Starter Plan: £5.00 for 10,000 credits
- Basic Plan: £25.00 for 30,000 credits
- Premium Plan: £99.00 for 500,000 credits
4.3 Payment Processing
- All payments are processed securely through Stripe
- Prices are in British Pounds (GBP) unless otherwise stated
- You authorize us to charge your payment method for all fees incurred
- Subscription plans are one-time purchases (not recurring unless specified)
4.4 Refund Policy
- Credits are non-refundable once purchased
- Refunds may be granted at our sole discretion for unused credits in cases of technical errors or service failures
- To request a refund, contact info@adaratranslate.com within 14 days of purchase
4.5 Price Changes
We reserve the right to change subscription prices at any time. Price changes will not affect active subscriptions or previously purchased credits.
5. User Content and Intellectual Property
5.1 Your Content
You retain all rights to any text, images, files, or other content that you submit to the Services ("User Content"). By submitting User Content for translation, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, process, modify, and transmit the content solely for the purpose of providing translation services to you.
5.2 Content Processing
- Mobile App: Text submitted via keyboard, voice input, OCR, clipboard, or file import is processed in real-time and sent to DeepL API for translation. We do not store translation content on our servers after processing.
- Chrome Extension: Text you highlight or submit for translation is processed in real-time and is not stored by us.
- Google Workspace Add-on: Text from Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides is processed through DeepL or Google Translate APIs and is not stored by us.
5.3 Our Intellectual Property
The Services and their contents, including but not limited to software, text, graphics, images, logos, user interface design, and algorithms, are the property of Adara Translate or our licensors and are protected by United Kingdom, European Union, and international copyright, trademark, patent, and other intellectual property laws.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of our Services
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
- Use the Services to create a competing product or service
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
5.4 Glossaries
Custom glossaries you create are stored in Firebase Firestore and remain your intellectual property. We do not claim ownership of your glossaries or use them for any purpose other than providing translation services to you.
6. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use the Services to:
- Violate any laws, regulations, or third-party rights
- Transmit malicious code, viruses, or harmful software
- Harass, abuse, threaten, or intimidate others
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Collect user data without consent
- Engage in fraudulent activity or payment disputes
- Translate content that is illegal, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, or promotes violence, discrimination, or hate speech
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Services without permission
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or user accounts
- Overload or disrupt our servers or networks
- Circumvent credit limits or payment requirements
We reserve the right to investigate and take appropriate action against anyone who violates these prohibitions, including terminating accounts and reporting to law enforcement.
7. Third-Party Services and APIs
7.1 DeepL API
Our Services rely on DeepL GmbH's translation API. Your use of translation features is also subject to DeepL's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy:

7.2 Firebase (Google Cloud)
The Mobile App uses Firebase for authentication, database, analytics, and crash reporting. Your data is subject to Google's Privacy Policy:

7.3 Stripe Payments
Payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. Your payment information is subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy and Terms:

7.4 Google Cloud Services
- Speech-to-Text API: Processes voice input for transcription (Mobile App)
- ML Kit: Performs on-device OCR for image text extraction (Mobile App)
- Google Sign-In: Authenticates users via OAuth 2.0 (Mobile App)
7.5 Third-Party Liability
We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or reliability of third-party services. Any issues with DeepL translations, Firebase downtime, Stripe payment processing, or Google services are outside our control.
8. Privacy and Data Protection
Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy at https://adaratranslate.com/privacy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
Key Privacy Points:
- We collect minimal data necessary to provide services (email, translation usage, payment info)
- We do not store translation content after processing
- We comply with GDPR, UK GDPR, and other applicable data protection laws
- You have rights to access, rectify, delete, and export your data
- We use encryption (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
9.1 "As-Is" Service
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Merchantability: Fitness for a particular purpose
- Non-Infringement: Freedom from third-party claims
- Accuracy: Translation quality, correctness, or completeness
- Availability: Uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free operation
- Data Loss: Protection against loss of data or content
9.2 Translation Accuracy
While we use industry-leading DeepL AI, we do not guarantee 100% accuracy of translations. Translations may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying translations before use, especially for:
- Legal documents
- Medical information
- Financial statements
- Safety-critical communications
9.3 Third-Party Services
We do not warrant the reliability, availability, or performance of third-party services (DeepL, Firebase, Stripe, Google Cloud). Service interruptions, API changes, or errors are beyond our control.
9.4 Mobile App Compatibility
We do not guarantee compatibility with all Android or iOS devices, operating system versions, or hardware configurations. Some features (OCR, voice input) may require specific device capabilities.
10. Limitation of Liability
10.1 Damages Cap
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL ADARA TRANSLATE, ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY:
- Direct Damages: Loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities
- Indirect Damages: Consequential, incidental, special, exemplary, or punitive damages
- Third-Party Claims: Damages arising from third-party actions or content
EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
10.2 Maximum Liability
Our total liability for all claims arising from your use of the Services shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £100 (whichever is greater).
10.3 Exceptions
Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability for incidental or consequential damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Adara Translate, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
- Your use or misuse of the Services
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights (intellectual property, privacy, etc.)
- Your User Content or actions taken using your account
- Your violation of applicable laws or regulations
We reserve the right to assume exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification, at your expense.
12. Termination
12.1 Termination by You
You may discontinue use of the Services at any time by:
- Mobile App: Uninstalling the app and requesting account deletion via info@adaratranslate.com
- Chrome Extension: Uninstalling the extension from your browser
- Google Workspace Add-on: Removing the add-on from your Google account
12.2 Termination by Us
We may terminate or suspend your access to the Services immediately, with or without notice, for:
- Violation of these Terms
- Fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity
- Non-payment of fees
- Prolonged inactivity (accounts inactive for 2+ years may be deleted)
- Discontinuation of the Services
12.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
- Your right to use the Services immediately ceases
- Unused credits are forfeited (non-refundable)
- We may delete your account data after 30 days
- You remain liable for any outstanding fees
- Sections 5 (Intellectual Property), 9 (Disclaimer), 10 (Limitation of Liability), 11 (Indemnification), and 13 (Governing Law) survive termination
13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
13.1 Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law.
13.2 Jurisdiction
You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales for any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services.
13.3 Dispute Resolution
Before filing a lawsuit, you agree to attempt to resolve disputes informally by contacting us at info@adaratranslate.com. We will attempt to resolve the dispute within 30 days.
13.4 Class Action Waiver
You agree to resolve disputes on an individual basis only. You waive any right to participate in class actions, class arbitrations, or representative proceedings.
14. General Provisions
14.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Services and supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications and proposals, whether oral or written.
14.2 Amendments
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be notified via:
- In-app notification (Mobile App)
- Email notification (for registered users)
- Posting updated Terms at https://adaratranslate.com/terms
Your continued use of the Services after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the Services.
14.3 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
14.4 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
14.5 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights under them without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms to any affiliate or successor without restriction.
14.6 Force Majeure
We are not liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations due to events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, terrorism, pandemics, government actions, network failures, or third-party service outages.
14.7 Export Controls
You agree to comply with all applicable export and import laws and regulations. You may not use the Services in countries subject to trade embargoes or sanctions.

14.9 Language
These Terms are written in English. Any translations are provided for convenience only. In case of conflict, the English version prevails.
15. Mobile App-Specific Terms
15.1 App Store Terms
Your use of the Mobile App is also subject to the terms and conditions of the app store from which you downloaded it:

15.2 Updates
We may release updates, bug fixes, or new features for the Mobile App. You agree to install updates promptly. Continued use of outdated versions may result in degraded functionality or security risks.
15.3 Device Requirements
The Mobile App requires:
- Android: Version 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher
- iOS: Version 12.0 or higher
- Internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data)
- Camera (for OCR feature)
- Microphone (for voice input feature)
- Storage access (for file import feature)
15.4 App Permissions
The Mobile App requests permissions for:
- Camera: OCR text scanning from images
- Microphone: Voice-to-text transcription
- Storage: File import (PDF/DOCX/TXT), gallery image access
- Internet: Translation API calls, authentication, payment processing
You may revoke permissions at any time through device settings, but this may disable related features.
15.5 Background Data Usage
The Mobile App may use background data for:
- Firebase authentication token refresh
- Crash reporting (Firebase Crashlytics)
- Analytics (Firebase Analytics)
You can disable background data in device settings, but this may affect app functionality.

17. Feedback
We welcome feedback, suggestions, and ideas ("Feedback") about our Services. By submitting Feedback, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, modify, and incorporate Feedback into our Services without compensation or attribution to you.
